Do you love the zoo so much you want to take some of the animals home? Well, it may not be lions, monkeys or sloths, but you can bring home another friend from the zoo.
On May 19-20 the Michigan Humane Society will have hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens ready for immediate adoption for the 2017 at the Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo event.
If this is where you want to meet your furry four-legged pal, hope for a picturesque spring day since it will be in a tent outside under the water tower in the parking lot. You also won’t be charged zoo admission prices, or any other, to stop by.
There is an adoption and registration fee set by each of the 40 welfare groups that will take part. You’ll also need a photo ID and must be willing to have your new family member get a medical checkup and age appropriate vaccinations.
Puppies and kittens are so cute they are hard to resist, but please consider taking home an older dog. They deserve a loving home, too.
To ensure good matches, there will be a get-acquainted area you … and our potential new best friend … can decide if you are right for each other. For health and safety reasons, please leave bring any of your current “best friends” at home.
Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo has given new homes to more than 23,000 dogs, cats and rabbits since it all began in 1993. The event is held in the spring and fall and is one of the largest adoption programs in the nations.
The zoo certainly is no stranger to animal lovers. Here’s your chance to share that love with a friend you can come home to every day.
