Spring has sprung, and Easter will be here just as families find themselves stuck with cabin fever struck kids. The Detroit Zoo is ready to help take care of that problem, right at the end of Holy Week.
Bunnyville is back at the zoo for the 26th year. It runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15.
Join in the egg hunt with 100 golden eggs hidden in the zoo each day, the Jelly Bean Jamboree, Funny Bunny Games, whisker painting and photos with the Easter Bunny.
There will also be a fair amount of live entertainment such as Miss Paula and the Candy Bandits at Rackham Fountain, The Amazing Clark magic show at the Events Pavilion, and the Off Broadway Productions musical “Bunnyville Follies” in the Main Picnic Grove.
You’ll have a chance to hear zookeepers talk about the zoo’s animals and there are special treats for the animals.
If weather is permitting, you can ride on the Tauber Family Railroad for $3 per person.
Members may get into the zoo free that day, but everyone else can get their admission price knocked down to $9 by bringing a canned or non-perishable food item for Gleaner’s Food Bank. Even those who can take advantage of the free admission are encouraged to bring donation.
It will be an “eggstravaganza.”
