Under Armour coming to downtown Detroit in spring of 2017


Under Armour, a manufacturer of sports performance apparel, footwear and accessories, will open a store at 1201 Woodward in the spring of 2017.

Dan Gilbert, chairman  of Rock Ventures and Quicken Loans, and  Kevin Plank, CEO and chairman of Under Armour, made the announcement at Gilbert’s annual Children’s Tumor Foundation gala on November 19.

“Under Armour is excited to open its first Brand House in downtown Detroit in the spring of 2017 at 1201 Woodward Ave.,” they said in a joint statement, “Detroit is an ideal location for Under Armour as an icon of Americana. Just like Under Armour’s hometown of Baltimore, Detroit is currently experiencing an unprecedented wave of momentum, and we can’t wait to be part of their exciting success story.”
