The group with the triple-platinum #1 hit “Best Day of My Life,” American Authors, is coming to Detroit this Friday, July 22.
You can catch them at Campus Martius Park. It’s part of the monthly music celebration, 4th Fridays, which has shows on, you guessed it … the fourth Friday of the month.
While the headlining indie rockers don’t go on until 9 pm, the show starts at noon when their fellow musicians take the stage. Those fellow musicians are, Sarah Bella, Mahagony Love, Detroit Social Club and Kaleido.
4th Fridays is an eclectic blend of local favorites and national bands as well as a mixture of readily available food and drink.
American Authors’ new album has already risen to the top spot at Top 30 Hot AC. What We Live For’ is the long-awaited follow-up to ‘Oh, What A Life,’ American Authors’ RIAA certified Gold debut album of 2014. It rose to #3 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart and #15 on Soundscan. In addition to “Best Day Of My Life,” a #1 Hot AC and Top 5 Pop hit, the album also spun off “Believer,” another Top 15 at Hot AC.
While you’re at 4th Fridays you can help tell the story of Detroit at Mosaic DETROIT with artist Julie Fournier. You’ll take and print selfies and work with her to put your image and painted words about Detroit onto large letters that spell out DETROIT.

Noon – 2 p.m. “Meridian Mid-Day Music Series” – Mahagony Love
It’s classic rock/blues rock and funky-soul, with a high-energy performance that will keep you dancing.
5:30 p.m. Detroit Social Club
An 8-piece group plays country blues, traditional country and folk as well as soul and R&B classics.
7 p.m. Kaleido
Rock & roll isn’t dead. This group is Guns N’ Roses meets No Doubt.
4th Fridays concludes on August 26, with George Clinton & the Parliament Funkadelic.
