There is something about water that just makes us relax, get mellow and contemplate life. We are so luck in Detroit to have a terrific riverfront that lets us do that at our own pace.
When you add great music, movies and good food, contemplation and mellowness turn into a rockin’ good time.
For four Thursdays in July and August, starting Thursday, July 14, you can celebrate summer along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront with a brand new entertainment series called Riverfront Relaxin’, presented by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy in conjunction with Park Solutions. It’s free and features live music, games, food trucks, vendors and classic movies under the stars.
It all happens Thursday nights – July 14, July 28, August 11 and August 25 from 6 –10:30 p.m. Music starts at 6:30 p.m. and movies start at 8:30 p.m. You’ll find it at West Riverfront Park at 1801 Jefferson in Detroit (west of Cobo Hall and Joe Louis Arena).
Here’s the schedule:
- July 14 Music: Larry Lee & the Back in the Day Band; Movie: Purple Rain
- July 28 Music: Rockstar (80’s Tribute Band); Movie: The Breakfast Club
- Aug 11 Music: Jody Raffoul Band; Movie: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
