Eastern Market WiFi

It you live in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and St. Clair Shores and have Comcast linking to the internet when you are out and about just got easier.

Comcast has installed nearly 700 new XFINITY Wi-Fi outdoor hotspots.

Here’s how it works.

If you are an XFINITY Internet customer you can get access to XFINITY Wi-Fi hotspots by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on your laptop or mobile device by entering your Comcast email and password.

An XFINITY Wi-Fi App is available for download on both iOS and Android device to locate business and outdoor hotspots. You also can visit the hotspot finder map online at

“We’re a mobile-centric society with an insatiable appetite for staying connected all the time, everywhere,” said Tim Collins, Comcast senior vice president in Michigan. “These outdoor hotspots offer our customers even more value from their XFINITY service by letting them connect to family, friends, information and entertainment like never before.”

Not a Comcast customer? You can still get into the new outdoor hotspots … but it will cost you. Comcast offers two, 60-minute complimentary sessions per month. After that, non-customers can purchase hourly, daily, weekly or monthly access passes.

Additional XFINITY Wi-Fi outdoor hotspots will launch across other Michigan communities later this year. Comcast currently has a total of 654,000 XFINITY Wi-Fi hotpots statewide.
