When Will Leather Goods opened in Midtown late last year it wanted to do more than sell leather goods. The 9,000-square-foot store at 4120 2nd Ave. also wants to be a community gathering space where creativity and ideas are encouraged and promoted.
To get it all started Will Leathers Goods will host upcoming Coffee & Conversation events in April at the store with featured guest speakers to lead the discussion. The free events take place from 8 am to 10 am. The public is invited.
On Friday, April 1, you can join Karen Dumas, host of 910 AM’s “The Pulse” and her guests to discuss the importance of community and collaboration as Detroit evolves.
“As Detroit continues to evolve into its rightful role of a diverse and growth-oriented city, it is imperative that the varied voices and views be heard and respected,” Dumas says. “Conversation is the first step to increased connectivity and a strengthened community. Doing so over coffee is added value.”
On April 8, Allyson Martinek, former radio personality, will talk about her endeavors since leaving radio and read excerpts from her new book “Living On Air: A Radiogirl’s Quest For Fairness and Happily Ever After.”Will Leather Goods
It seems only right that Will Leather Goods would host events like this since its tagline is “Discover your Will.” In Detroit residents are doing that every day.
The company’s founder, Will Adler, is a Detroit native who attended Detroit Public Schools. That’s one of the main reasons he opened the shop here As part of its Detroit launch last November, Will Leather gave 4,000 backpacks to Cornerstone School students.
