Most of us think the cover of the State of the State program is probably pretty boring. A picture of the capitol building. A map of our state. Something like that.

I’ve never seen one of the programs so I don’t know what’s been on the cover before, but one thing I do know … this year’s won’t be boring.

Kids in grades K-12 were asked to submit their designs for the 2016 State of the State program. Hundreds did. The top five were announced on Jan. 5 and posted on Gov. Snyder’s Facebook page.

You can have say in which one graces the cover. The winning design will be determined by which one receives the most likes on Facebook by 5:00 pm Jan. 8. Click here to vote.

Here are pictures of the top five with the first names of the artist, their hometown and grade in school.

They are all creative and imaginative. Michigan certainly has very talented young people. But then we all knew that.

The winner and one guest will be invited to Lansing to meet Governor Snyder and attend the 2016 State of the State address on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 7:00 PM.
