Looking for a job or trying to find a new one? Here are some great connections … and you can check them out without leaving your home.
On Wednesday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Pure Michigan Talent Connect’s MiVirtualCareerFairs will bring together Michigan employers and talent from across the state and the globe in an online, virtual environment.
There’s no cost participate. You can register at www.mitalent.org/virtualcareerfair.
Here’s what you’ll see at the event. You can explore customized employer booths, interact one-on-one with participating employers and search and apply for job opportunities. You can also access information about career development programs and resources in the Media Center and Resource Lounge.
If you are veteran, you can connect with staff at the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) booth to learn about veteran’s benefits in Michigan.
Want to work in the non-profit sector? The Michigan Nonprofit Association will be there as a resource to assist those interested in finding opportunities.
“Michigan is filled with great career opportunities,” said Stephanie Comai, director of the Michigan Talent Investment Agency. “Our virtual career fairs are an innovative, convenient way to help Michigan job providers connect with the outstanding talent they’re seeking.”
Pure Michigan Talent Connect’s MiVirtualCareerFairs have helped many people find jobs. Since 2012 more 220 employers and 31,000 job seekers have been connected through the state’s 15 sponsored events. With assistance from the Michigan Works! System and event partner Capital Area Michigan Works!, 545 jobs with 34 Michigan employers in varying industries will be featured in the May event.

More than 4,300 job seekers participated in the Feb. 11 MiVirtualCareerFair. In addition to the May 13 virtual career fair, events are scheduled for:
Wednesday, Aug. 12, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The MiVirtualCareerFair is the next greatest form of networking and communication with employers. Interviews are not guaranteed during or after the event. All job openings posted during the events are accessible to participants for 30 days after event. Post-event, job seekers can go back into the environment and apply for more job opportunities or check out the chat transcripts held between the candidate and employer.
Employers receive in-depth analytics including candidate resumes, applications, chat transcripts, and booth visit data, which further solidify connections made during the event.
