There’ll be belly laughs: Joel McHale to headline Forgotten Harvest Comedy Night

Comedy Night 2

Years ago one of the best laughing songs was written … I Love To Laugh from Mary Poppins.

I love to laugh

 Loud and long and clear

 I love to laugh

 It’s getting worse ev’ry year

Those lyrics aptly describe the Forgotten Harvest’s 23rd Annual Comedy Night. The laugher does get “worse” every year. The long, loud and clear giggles, guffaws and belly laughs have rocked the audience at Comedy Night for 22 years.

This year it features Joel McHale, star of the hit comedy series “Community” and host of E!’s “The Soup.” He’ll headline the show on May 1 at the Detroit Opera House.

You will also recognize McHale from such notable films as Warner Bros’ romantic comedy “Blended” with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, Seth MacFarlane’s comedy smash “TED,” as well as “What’s Your Number?,” “The Big Year,” “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World” and “The Informant.”

Laughter is great but there’s more to the show than just a good time and great laughs. It feeds the hungry. Proceeds from ticket and sponsorship sales benefit Forgotten Harvest’s network of more than 280 agencies in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Here’s a little background on the vital service Forgotten Harvest provides that helps our Metro Detroit neighbors in need.

aboutForgotten Harvest rescues food by collecting surplus, prepared and perishable food from grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors, and other health department-approved sources. Last year it “rescued” 48.8 million pounds of food. This donated food – that would otherwise go to waste – is delivered free of charge to emergency food providers throughout metro Detroit. Forgotten Harvest is now America’s largest and most efficient food rescue organization.

Don’t miss out on this night of laughs for a great cause. You’ll live the words to I Love To Laugh …

We love to laugh

 Loud and long and clear

 We love to laugh

 So ev’rybody can hear

 The more you laugh

The more you fill with glee

 And the more the glee

The more we’re a merrier we!

Coming to the show and contributing to a great cause will make all of us a merrier we.
