During its recent NEIdeas Challenge, the New Economy Initiative found nearly 600 great businesses in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park that offer unique products … great for your holiday giving.

The Black Dress Co. is a casual/dressy women’s apparel and accessories boutique located in Midtown’s historic Sugar Hill District at 113 E. Canfield.

Food and beverageAstro Coffee

Astro Coffee is a small café located in the historic Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. The menu features a variety of roasters and producers.  The address is 2124 Michigan Avenue

Anthology Coffee

Beautifully Wrapped is an international, interfaith organization that brings together people of all cultures and ethnicities to showcase the art form of head wrapping as a way to promote beauty, spiritual identity and holistic health and healing. The online store offers a calendar that serves as a fundraising tool for its work in girl and women empowerment.  They originally began with in order to support 10,000 Girls, a non-profit based in Senegal founded by Dr. Viola Vaughn.  Proceeds from 2014’s sales will help the company formalize a 501c3 tax-exempt organization to expand our word in Sierra Leone. Bike Tech, Inc.

Bike Tech is the place in Metro Detroit to bring your vintage bicycle for a restoration. A typical restoration includes rust removal, complete overhaul, and repaint with decals, if desired. It is located at 18401 E. Warren Avenue.

City Bird LLC

City Bird carries housewares, jewelry, paper goods, apparel, accessories, and home decor by hundreds of independent artists and designers and feature work from Detroit and other Rust Belt cities. You can find it at 460 W. Canfield St.

Detroit Bikes LLC

Detroit Bikes are built in a city with manufacturing prowess and deep traditions of bicycle production, touring, recreational riding, commuting and racing. It is located at 13639 Elmira St.

Mirage Jewelry

Mirage Fine Jewelers features designer bridal jewelry, designer fashion jewelry, timepieces, and giftware. The store feature the Mirage Fine Jewelers collection – a collection of custom designed pieces, crafted in house.  It is located at 9701 Joseph Campau in Hamtramck.

Prop Art Studio

Prop Art Studio is a full-service industrial commercial art studio in Detroit. This award-winning studio has been designing, sculpturing and rendering larger-than-life 3D props and other productions for more than 25 years. It’s located at 112 E. Grand Blvd.

Rebel Nell

Rebel Nell was started with the sole purpose of employing, educating and empowering disadvantaged women in Detroit.
