Let’s feed people today! A tweet gives $3 to the #BedandBread @Ford Salvation Army Tweetathon

Homeless Bed and Bread

Today, Feb. 23rd, tweeting directly raises money. From 6am 10pm, the second annual Salvation Army #BedandBread Tweetathon is on!

Salvation army logoGiving $3 to a good cause is super simple. For every tweet containing the hashtag #BedandBread, the generous people at the Ford Motor Company Fund (@Ford) will donate $3 for every tweet, up to $25,000. A total of 8,333 tweets are needed to achieve the $25,000 donation.

The Bed & Bread Program serves more than 5,000 meals to hungry Detroiters each day and more than 1.8 million meals to our neighbors who would go without. In addition, the Bed & Bread Program provides more than 400 homeless individuals shelter each night.

Three bucks may not seem like a lot, but it sure adds up fast to make a difference. 40 tweets feeds a person for a whole year! We have almost 11,000 followers, we can feed someone for a year, can’t we?

Since we have a geek streak, we tried to make it super easy. Hit the big red button below. It’ll send you to Twitter.com where (you may need to sign in if you’re not already) with a draft tweet you can share this and make it happen.

This online effort is to support its 26th annual Bed & Bread Club Radiothon which is going on simultaneously at WJR Radio AM 760.

If you’d like to support with more than a tweet, check out the Salvation Army donation page here.
