Paczki Day is here, which means people around the region will be running to Hamtramck to fill their bellies with those delicious Polish pastries. The Polish bakeries (and, well, every bakery I’ve gone by) have been preparing for the day with gusto. While I would love to list all of the bakeries you can go to tomorrow the good people over at Visit Detroit have already compiled a list for all of your paczki needs.
But if you are going to be going to Hamtramck tomorrow, there are other events going on to celebrate the last day before the observation of Lent begins.
Did you know mac and cheese (and tacos) go with paczkis?
Hamtramck will have some of metro Detroit’s favorite food trucks hanging out serving food to the masses tomorrow from 9:00am to around 6:00pm.
El Guapo and Mac Shack will be serving up some savory food to balance out the sweet paczki. If you are still wanting some sweets you can also check out Treat Dreams special blueberry and raspberry paczki ice cream. Or, if that’s not enough, check out the Beignet truck for some of their paczki. (Beignet will be in Hamtramck at 6:00 am tomorrow to start Paczki Day off right!)
You can find them at the intersection of Joseph Campeau and Belmont.
Paczki themed drinks at Small’s
Have you ever wanted to try a paczki filled with vodka? If so you are in luck because Small’s has paczki bombs tomorrow for $3.00, while supplies last.
Along with the paczki bombs, there will be numerous drink specials and live music starting at 4:00pm.
Small’s is located at 10339 Conant, Hamtramck, Michigan 48212
Paczki Palooza 2013
Between the Men’s Hot Leg contest (Hamtramck councilman Zwolak is the defending champion), real polish cuisine and a selection of musical acts, the New Dodge Lounge (which purports to be “Hamtramck’s finest lounge”) is a home for some fun starting bright and early at 7am and going into the night.
The New Dodge Lounge can be found at 8850 Joseph Campau.
There’s only one thing to wish with all the activities going on in Hamtramck – Powodzenia! (Good luck!)
