Here are some great places to watch the Super Bowl in Metro Detroit

Superbowl location in New Orleans

The Detroit area has always been recognized as a blue collar, dyed in the wool, hard-core sports town.  Metro Detroiters love their teams and there are plenty of great sports bars all around town for hometown fans to gather and enjoy rooting for their favorite team … be it college or the pros.

You know when you’re in a Detroit sports bar because there’s no mistaking the décor from the green and white Spartan S to U-M’s maize and blue to the Old English D, to the Red Wings winged wheel to the Piston’s red, white and blue basketball to the Lion’s Honolulu blue leaping Lion.   So come this Super Bowl Sunday, Detroit area sports fans will be heading to their favorite sports bars from Downriver to Mt. Clements … from Northville and Novi to Grosse Pointe and St. Clair Shores … and from Troy and Warren to Downtown Detroit.

Adding to the usual Super Bowl hype, this year’s contest sprinkles in a little bit of hometown flavor for Detroit fans to get extra excited because the head coaches of the NFC and AFC champs are brothers with roots in Ann Arbor.  Many are calling this year’s game the Harbaugh Brothers Bowl between the San Francisco 49’ers, coached by Jim Harbaugh, and the Baltimore Ravens, coached by older brother John Harbaugh.  No matter which team wins you can be sure Metro Detroit fans will be proud to see the national spotlights shining on two southeast Michigan guys when their teams take the field.

If you’re looking for a place to watch Super Bowl XLVll, here’s a pretty broad list of the better known sports bars the metro area has to offer — from North to South and East to West with some great Downtown Detroit spots in between.
