Big city feel, Social Kitchen & Bar opens in Birmingham

People often yearn for the magic combination of a sophisticated yet approachable place to grab a drink or food.  The type of place easily found in big cities like Chicago or New York.  Social Kitchen & Bar opened last month in the heart of Birmingham.  It has a chic atmosphere that is not stuffy, offers gourmet food at affordable prices, and has a wine selection that would make Napa Valley proud.Most notably, Social opened up Birmingham’s first rooftop bar, complete with couches to lounge on and enjoy the summer months.  Patrons can also enjoy their first floor patio, or opt to dine inside their intimate indoor seating area.  The bar is also a great option to simply grab a cocktail.

Customers can expect unique food options, from the crispy brussels sprout chips with almonds, capers, parsley and garlic, to their sea bass served in a cast iron skillet with crispy noodles & spicy tomatoes.  You can also stop in for lunch and try their naan (Indian-style bread) grilled cheese with tomato, or the house-made pastrami reuben with a side of fresh cut fries.

Executive Chef, Zach Sclar, 26 years old, has dreamed of owning a restaurant since childhood.  He studied at the famed Culinary Institute of America and has business experience from running his own catering company for a number of years.

Price: Dinner menu: appetizers $6-$15; salads $8-$11; sandwiches $11-$15; entrées $21-$28 (strip steak is $54); sides $5-$8; desserts $7-$8
Hours: 11 a.m.-midnight daily. Reservations accepted for five or more.
